England captain John Terry WILL face police investigation over 'racist abuse' of opponent

John Terry's position as England captain has been plunged into yet more doubt after the Metropolitan Police launched a formal investigation into allegations that he racially abused another player.

The Chelsea player was accused of racially attacking QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a match last month.

The police decided to launch a full criminal investigation after examining a video shot at a Premier League game between the two teams.

The controversial 30-year-old could be jailed for up to seven years and lose his position at the head of the national team if he is found guilty.
